Serving most of Suffolk County, Dr. Alana Lauritano brings compassionate, personalized veterinary care right to your doorstep.
Exams, diagnostics, and treatments all take place in the comfort of your home, where your pet feels safest. Most pets are far more relaxed at home, and that calmness allows for a better, more thorough exam.
Seeing your pet in their own environment also helps Dr. Alana understand how their daily surroundings may be affecting their health. Things such as litter setup, box placement, household plants, and overall routines can impact your pet's health..
She’ll offer gentle, practical recommendations to help create the healthiest possible space for your pet.
As a sole practitioner, Dr. Alana is the only veterinarian who will ever visit your home. You and your pet receive her full attention, every time, with uninterrupted continuity of care.
We offer warm, supportive wellness consultations with a focus on keeping your pet healthy and preventing illness before it begins.
During your first visit, Dr. Alana will create a personalized preventative care and vaccination plan tailored just for your pet.
Sick visits are available for minor ailments, chronic health conditions, and hospice care, always with kindness and understanding.
Dr. Alana takes the time to truly listen and answer all your questions. And, unlike a traditional animal hospital, you get to stay with your pet throughout the entire appointment—no being taken “to the back.” Your pet feels safer, and you stay connected to every step of their care.

Dr. Alana will help your pet pass peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones, familiar smells, and other family pets in the most peaceful way possible. Because we know the decision of euthanasia can be urgent, Dr. Alana tries her hardest to accommodate same day appointments. If you wish to have your pet cremated, we will take care of all arrangements; which include transporting your pet to the crematory and bringing your pet's ashes back to your home.
The euthanasia appointment can last anywhere from 45-90 minutes. We do not like to rush these appointments, and feel it is important for Dr. Alana to introduce herself to you and your pet and get to know you a bit. During this chat, the procedure will be explained and any questions will be answered. Dr. Alana will want make sure everyone is comfortable, and understands the entire process.
Once you are ready, Dr. Alana will give your pet an injectable sedative with a pain killer. This is given under the skin, just like a vaccine would be given. While the sedative is given, your pet can have any yummy treat they would like; even chocolate! Of course some pets are very ill and do not want to eat. For those pets, we recommend lots of pets and rubs for distraction. Once the sedative takes effect, your pet will be very relaxed; almost on an anesthetic plane. The full effect of the sedation usually takes about 5-15 minutes, depending on the pet. At this time, your pet may be so relaxed they begin to snore. It is normal for pets to have their eyes open throughout the procedure, and even after.
Once your pet is relaxed from the sedative, we will place a wee wee pad under them to keep them clean. We will then clip some fur on your pet's leg, so we may accurately access a vein. (If your pet wears a collar please do not remove it until they have passed). When you are ready, Dr. Alana will proceed with the second injection that will allow them peacefully cross the rainbow bridge. Your pet will not feel this injection due to the sedative and pain killer. This injection will be given into a vein or the belly. Before the procedure, Dr. Alana will explain which vein or other route she will be using. The second injection can take 5-15 minutes to be complete depending on the size of the pet, their circulation and technique used. You will start to see your pet's breathing slow down, then stop. A minute, or so, later the heart will then stop. Sometimes, you may see muscle twitching afterwards; this is normal. All your pet will know is that they fell asleep at home, in their favorite spot, surrounded by their family.
Once all the solution is given, Dr. Alana will then check for a heartbeat and pulse to confirm your pet has passed. You will be able to love on your pet throughout the whole process, and have as many people and other pets present as you would like.
After your pet is confirmed to have passed, Dr. Alana will go to her vehicle and give you some private time with your pet to say goodbye, if you wish. At this time, other pets in the household will also be able to say goodbye. A paw print and fur clipping will be made and left with you at the appointment.
If you have chosen a cremation, we will respectfully place your pet in a basket or on a stretcher with a blanket and bring your pet to our vehicle. If you rather not be present for that part, it is totally okay. We understand this may be especially hard for some.
If you have requested a private cremation, the ashes will be hand delivered to your home in 7-14 days.
We use The Final Gift Regency Forest Pet Memorial Park in Middle Island and Legacy Pet Crematory in West Babylon for cremations.
We know saying good bye and making this decision is the hardest part of having a pet. Please know Dr. Alana will make all efforts to help your pet cross the rainbow bridge as comfortably and stress free as possible.
If you have further questions about the euthanasia process, please give us a call or text and we would be happy to speak with you.
